Role Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting and Reporting, this position supports all internal and external reporting, including the preparation of the consolidated statement of cash flows and consolidated annual report, and the review and evaluation of new and unusual transactions to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies, including those related to sustainability. This position supports the ongoing review of routine and non-routine contracts.

What Success Looks Like
· New accounting standards and updates are identified early, and the Company’s adoption is managed proactively.
· Operate as a resource for timely and reliable guidance to others within the Finance organization and within the broader Company on technical accounting questions.
· New and unusual transactions are thoroughly researched and well-documented to ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and company policies.
· Collaboration with legal, sourcing, manufacturing, environmental, and other departments to proactively review contracts prior to execution.
· The annual report, inclusive of the consolidated statement of cash flows, is prepared timely and accurately, including appropriate classification of new and unusual transactions.
Key Responsibilities
A focus on process improvement, teamwork, and delivering results will be critical. Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Collaborate and share responsibility of all quarterly and annual internal and external financial reporting.
· Work closely with external auditors to ensure their completion of an efficient audit.
· Support the analysis and review of new and unusual transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP, HGB (German GAAP), and company policies. Document accounting treatment in whitepapers as required.
· Prepare USG’s consolidated statement of cash flows.
· Prepare the monthly financial package for the Company’s CEO, CFO, and CAO.
· Assist in the identification and implementation of new accounting principles.
· Lead and support key technical and developing accounting processes, such as asset retirement obligations and environmental credits, by working cross-functionally with manufacturing, environmental, sourcing, legal and others to support the annual accounting review.
· Support the ongoing review of routine and non-routine contracts, including those contracts related to attaining the Company’s sustainability initiatives, by working closely with various cross-functional areas, such as legal, tax, sourcing, manufacturing, and environmental.
· Develop knowledge of applicable ESG reporting standards and assist in the Company’s implementation of those standards.
· Develop and implement accounting process change by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes. Take initiative to continually improve efficiency in accounting and reporting processes.
· Assist with ad hoc projects assigned by senior management including IT enhancements for the financial and management reporting processes, analysis of business operations, proposed accounting treatment of unusual transactions or other accounting and finance related matters.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Actively participate in company employee engagement initiatives.
Develop and facilitate technical accounting trainings for the broader accounting team.
Qualifications & Experience
In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:
Education
Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
CPA certification is preferred, or must be working towards CPA certification
Experience
2+ years of experience in finance and accounting, in roles of increasing complexity and responsibility.
Required Skills
· Strong knowledge of US GAAP, and ability to learn and apply technical accounting concepts in accordance with US GAAP and HGB (German GAAP).
Strong analytical, technical research, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make sound business decisions in complex and ambiguous business environments.
· Unquestioned integrity, moral character, ethics and values -- one whom an organization can trust without reservation.
· Personal presence, confidence, and professional competence necessary to represent USG with the auditors.
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects without constant management oversite and guidance.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to drive change confidently, rapidly and effectively by influencing behavior, even in the absence of clear formal authority.
· Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management preferred.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
