Operations Manager

· Effectively lead two board production lines, Supply Chain and Quality Department. Currently oversees approximately 114 employees consisting of 2 General Foremen, 4 Foremen, and 16 Supervisors.
· Responsible for training, motivating and maintaining a level of safety for all department employees to provide for an efficient operation, consistent with overall company safety objectives.
· Champion continuous improvement across the department through standard work, Reflection meetings, to include creation of value-added metrics on Reflection boards, GEMBA walks and accountability. Be data driven to initiate decision making.
· Ability to proactively develop and implement specific strategies to meet efficiency goals.
· Responsible for ensuring departments are following all USG bulletins as well as UL and PEI bulletin requirements.
· Verify all departments are on track and exceeding established cost goals.
· An ability to recognize employee’s strengths and weaknesses provide coaching and motivate employees as individuals and a team.
· Development planning and implementation for department employees on a continual basis is necessary.
· Development of a realistic succession plan is essential.
· Oversee the implementation of capital projects under the Operating Department.
· Must interact frequently and effectively with manufacturing, engineering, technical services, research, sales and customers to determine product specifications and maximize product reliability and acceptance.
· Highly developed technical skills with an ability to propel the plant forward by recognizing and implementing advancements in automation and technology.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred) with prior experience as a USG department manager.
· Demonstrated organizational skills with strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
· Knowledgeable of safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping.
· Willing and able to maintain the high safety standards, with a desire to improve upon what is already in place.
· An ability to make quick, accurate decisions.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, with the capability to identify key issues and provide an appropriate, proactive response.
· Strategic thinker with a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished and how to attain it.
· A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with USG’s philosophy of talent management and retention.
· Drive team members toward common objectives and results by building consensus and utilization of constructive conflict resolution.
· Treat all others with respect.
· Capacity to relate well to a variety of people and effectively build rapport.
· Facilitate an on-going exchange of ideas and information within own departments and across all others within the plant.
· Must have demonstrated abilities to operate within a planned budget and manage cost within established goals.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
