POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Marketing Manager is a key driver in executing innovative regional and local marketing strategies that directly support both residential and commercial contractors specializing in gypsum and ceiling systems. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing USG’s business objectives by increasing market awareness, preference, and sales of USG gypsum and ceiling products among the contractor and distributor communities, enabling jobsite success and fueling sustained business growth.
Key objectives and responsibilities for this strategic role include:
Designing, implementing, and measuring customer-focused marketing programs tailored to unique regional and local needs, elevating the presence of USG solutions with contractors, installers and distributors.
Equipping USG sales teams and distribution partners with the knowledge, training, technical resources, and targeted promotions needed to enable contractors to confidently select, install, and advocate for USG gypsum and ceiling solutions.
Translating national marketing strategies into high-impact, localized initiatives that enhance contractor engagement, loyalty, and advocacy within key markets and specialty dealer networks.
The Field Marketing Manager collaborates extensively with Sales Leadership, Regional Sales Teams, Product Managers, and Distributor/Dealer Partners to deliver value-driven programs that enhance customer engagement, accelerate jobsite productivity, and strengthen USG’s reputation as an industry leader. This role manages a national budget dedicated to customer-centric marketing activities and executes best-in-class trade events, on-site demonstrations, educational clinics, product launches, and merchandising initiatives. The Field Marketing Manager also provides critical field-based insights, giving voice to contractor feedback, emerging needs, and evolving market trends to guide the broader Marketing and Product Management teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute strategic programs and promotional campaigns in collaboration with Sales and Channel Teams to increase USG’s market share among commercial and residential gypsum and ceiling customers.
Drive successful field-level activation for new product launches, ensuring contractors are equipped with clear value propositions, key differentiators, and installation guidance.
Champion customer engagement and loyalty through dynamic field marketing initiatives; including jobsite events, incentives, hands-on product demonstrations, local trade shows, and community-based partnerships.
Localize and adapt national marketing campaigns to ensure maximum relevance for both residential and commercial market segments, catering to homebuilders, remodelers, general contractors, project managers, and specialty installers.
Serve as the primary field liaison between Marketing, Sales, Product Management, and customers, ensuring seamless execution of campaigns, trainings, and contractor-focused initiatives.
Develop, launch, and assess merchandising and educational programs with key distributor partners, improving contractor support both on the jobsite and in-branch.
Monitor, measure, and report program performance, capturing actionable field insights and recommendations to continuously optimize USG’s contractor marketing strategy.
EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience in marketing, sales or customer service, ideally within the building materials, construction products, or closely related B2B environment.
Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with sales teams, distributor partners, and product management to deliver go-to-market programs and support new product introductions.
Manage budgets and optimizing spend to achieve campaign results and increased market share.
Hands-on experience organizing events, jobsite demonstrations, training clinics, or contractor engagement programs is highly desirable.
Knowledge of gypsum, ceiling systems, or other construction products and industry channels (contractors, distributors, installers) strongly preferred.
Ability to translate national campaigns into effective local initiatives and to generate insights from the field to influence strategy.
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with an ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally nationally, as required (estimated 30-40%).
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
