Researcher -- Structural Specialist

Position Description:
1. Responsible for design and engineered solutions for custom profiles and system configurations in static and dynamic scenarios. Applications both load bearing and non-load bearing.
2. Design of experimental programs to verify and certify systems and lead testing efforts to validate performance.
3. Conduct third party certification testing to demonstrate compliance with building codes and stated performance claims.
4. Provide technical support for field applications, product literature and quality control manuals. Work closely with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technical Services and Corporate Innovation Center’s Product Labs on new product development and quality.
5. Represent USG and help lead developments in industry associations, building codes, standards and professional societies.
6. Know, practice, & enforce the safe use of all equipment & materials employed in the course of assigned work. Conduct activities in a safe manner, observing all safety and environmental regulations.
7. Travel required typical 20-30%
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering with knowledge of structural engineering (Advanced Degree and PE license is a plus)
2. Practical design experience with steel systems applications is required.
3. Organizational & planning skills to identify issues, develop project plan, and execute in timely & efficient manner to achieve project objectives.
4. Experienced in statistical data analysis, experimental design techniques and have a solid working knowledge of AutoCAD.
5. Working knowledge of Building Codes and construction processes is a plus.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
