Engineering and Quality Manager

Job Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for training, motivating and maintaining a level of safety for all department employees to provide an efficient operation consistent with overall company safety objectives.
2. Responsible for safety, quality and cost goal achievement. Responsible for insuring compliance with the USG Reliability Performance Model. Responsible for environmental compliance, capital planning, AXA XL compliance, ARO and capital projects.
3. Responsible for plant quality program.
4. Supervises approximately 31 employees (direct reports are Maintenance General Foreman, Quality Supervisor, and Project Engineers).
5. Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of various capital projects, contracts, technology-based automation, and environmental requirements.
6. Leads the Maintenance department in all functions related to operations, machinery, equipment, and tooling.
- Must interact frequently and effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and technical services to maintain reliability and efficient operations of plant processes. Highly developed technical skills with an ability to propel the plant forward by recognizing and implementing advancements in automation and technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum 2 years experience as a project engineer or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills within a diverse workforce environment.
- Motivated self-starter with a high level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage multiple projects.
- Must have demonstrated abilities to operate within a planned budget and manage cost within established goals.
- Knowledgeable of safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping. Willing and able to maintain high safety standards, with a desire to improve upon what is already in place.
- A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with USG’s philosophy of talent management and retention. Drive team members toward common objectives and results by building consensus and utilization of constructive conflict resolution.
- Must possess very strong employee relation skills. Must treat all others with respect and make oneself available to all employees. Must be a good listener and have the capacity to relate well to a variety of people and effectively build rapport. Facilitate an on-going exchange of ideas and information within own departments and across all others within the plant.
- Basic knowledge of Lean Management practices, RPM predictive maintenance and technologies utilized to provide the required technical service support to all departments.
- Track record driving continuous improvement with demonstrated experience utilizing Lean, LSS, RPM, 5S, and visual and standard work methods.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
