IT Sr. Business Analyst 1

POSITION SUMMARY
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements and processes.
- Design and propose solutions that meet business needs while ensuring alignment with company goals and strategies.
- Analyze business data to uncover, opportunities, and ways for improvement.
- Create detailed functional specifications, user stories, and other documentation to support project development and implementation.
- Acts as liaison between the business units and IT.
- Travel may be required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Solution Design and Requirements Execution:
- Elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation of business requirements through collaboration with internal and external customers.
- Recording of requirements through creation of user stories and functional specs.
- Refining user stories and estimating them through story points.
- Assess proposed solutions to ensure they meet the business requirements.
- Identifying project-specific risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Analyze and model existing business processes, and developing new processes that meet the business requirements.
- Contributing to prototype development of user application interfaces.
- Create reports and write queries, then analyze data to provide insights and recommendations.
- Develop data-driven solutions to complex problems.
- Formulate solutions for small to medium projects, participates in projects of all sizes.
Test Execution:
- Assisting in the creation and/or execution of test plans for new or changed applications.
- Creation and validation of test scenarios and test cases.
- Execution of unit test cases.
- Coordination of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), then reporting and communicating UAT metrics.
- Leading the execution of UAT test cases.
Communication:
- Communication of requirements to counterparts within the IT organization.
- Communicating technical constraints, concerns, and other variables identified within IT to the business.
- Creation or supporting the creation of training presentations and SOPs.
- Provide training to business users and counterparts in the IT organization for process changes, projects changes, or day-to-day activities.
Project Initiation, Planning and Execution:
- Identifying and defining business needs and areas of improvement.
- Creating solution designs that will meet a business need from a system and process perspective.
- Estimating project costs and determining the internal and external resource needs.
- Gathering and documenting requirements for RFPs and RFIs.
- Supporting the development of project proposals, business cases, project charters, and stakeholder analysis.
- Participate in steering and governance committees.
- Creating and supporting project plans.
- Identifying project-specific risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Understands the financial implications of decisions and requests as it relates to IT.
- Leads small to medium size projects.
Job Knowledge:
- Communicates to business constituents in easily understood terms and USG terminology.
- Understands data models.
- Collect, clean and analyze both structured and unstructured data, then communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Understands the basic tenets of information risk security.
- Reviews and provides input into technical design documents.
- Supervisory role is limited to assigning work and reviewing work of others, does not conduct performance reviews
- Works under minimal supervision, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals
- Understands project plans and can clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines.
- Provides guidance to new and less experienced team members in business analysis skills.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science or related field.
Years of Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of in-depth business experience with the bulk of that experience serving a business/IT liaison role.
Required Skills:
- Experience in business analysis and providing business solutions.
- Establishes reasonable deadlines and personal work plans and manages time effectively.
- Basic knowledge of systems development cycles, methodologies, and workflow diagramming.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Business process modeling and analysis.
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
- Use of data visualization tools (Tableau)
- Experience in Oracle e-Business Suite/ERP or data science skills.
- Experience with Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and write SQL statements.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
