Maintenance Mechanic

Pay Rate: $27.90-$39.60 Hourly
Job Description;
1. Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance
requirements on: drive systems, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and
production machines. Utilize diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions,
and engineering specifications to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
2. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems,
and using precision measuring/testing instruments such as: laser alignment tools, tachometer, ultra-
sound and vibration analysis tools.
3. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand /power tools.
4. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using tape
measures, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
5. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs,
and straightedges.
6. Conform to the plant’s reliability performance model (EAM), as well as, other required maintenance
activities.
7. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and completing Red Vector
training as assigned.
8. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with plant rules/procedures and
completing safety inspections to meet both OSHA regulations and USG safety standards.
9. Maintain good working relationships through the use of constructive communication skills and
dignity/respect.
10. Mechanical and technical skills including, but not limited to: equipment fabrication, equipment
lubrication, pump rebuilds, piping system installations, conveying system maintenance,
welding/cutting (stick, MIG, TIG and plasma), fire protection system maintenance, effluent system
maintenance, lagoon maintenance, and gas/water/pneumatic pipeline maintenance.
11. Troubleshooting and repairing power transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic
systems.
12. Assist operational department mechanical maintenance teams during maintenance downtime.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Required Skills:
1. Must have 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience including, but not limited to;
welding/cutting operations, pump rebuilding, industrial fabrication, power/hand tool operations,
piping system installations, and maintaining production equipment, etc. and be flexible in the tasks
performed.
2. Must have the ability to work safely and put housekeeping as a top priority.
3. Must be able to demonstrate an understanding/compliance with all plant and departmental safety
rules, standards, and model programs.
4. Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements necessary for the position.
5. Must be able to work in adverse conditions, including but not limited to: extreme temperatures,
negotiating uneven terrain, ramps, steps and ladders.
6. Must have ability to understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervision and
efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks.
7. Ability to work with others in a team environment and encourage collaboration and problem solving.
8. Must be a self-starter and complete tasks with little guidance or supervision.
9. Must effectively communicate with all levels and departments to maintain and improve
relationships throughout a multi-industry plant. Must display dignity and respect at all times.
10. Must demonstrate good safety and attendance.
11. Must have a basic knowledge of rigging principles and equipment.
12. Must be willing to pursue additional training if required to do so.
13. Must have ability to safely operate plant mobile equipment.
14. Responsible for maintaining a set of personal tools as required by Engineering Maintenance
Department and demonstrate capability of safely operating said tools.
15. Normal work schedule is 6:45am – 3:00pm Monday through Friday, but must be willing and able to
work overtime, weekends, and any shift as assigned to meet the needs of the Plant. Must be willing
to respond to call-outs and be willing to provide update phone numbers for contact after-hours.
16. Local candidates are preferred for this position. There will be no relocation assistance.
Preferred Skills:
1. Prior experience with rotary valve and dust collector systems is a plus.
2. Prior experience with troubleshooting/repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus.
3. Strong organizational and project management skills are a plus.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
