Mine Maintenance Foreman

Position Summary
Position includes but is not limited to leading the preventive care duties and continuous improvements for the Shoals, IN underground mine maintenance team.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Strives for continual improvement on equipment PMs, schedules, etc. to eliminate breakdowns on plant equipment by leading and assisting with A-3’s and other continuous improvement efforts.
- Capable of working with vendors to accomplish plant’s needs. Enters purchase requisitions to order parts and contacts and schedules contractors.
- Responsible for efficiently executing daily maintenance activities necessary for the efficient operation of the mine and its mobile equipment.
- Direct supervision of preventive maintenance and equipment repairs to optimize equipment availability.
- Accountable for maintaining high levels of crew safety performance including adherence to MSHA regulations.
- Training and development of competent employees to ensure appropriate growth and proficiency of applicable mechanical skills within the maintenance team.
- Works with maintenance planner to ensure maintenance activities meet production demand and completion of tasks.
- Oversee the 5S program and housekeeping activities for the maintenance team.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the USG Reliability Performance Model.
- Responsible for overseeing the entries into CORE with completion of all required actions.
- Responsible for weekly Kronos approvals.
- Directly supervises the mine maintenance supervisor and planner in the performance of their duties and doing performance appraisals.
- Conduct and complete incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Participate in interviews with prospective employees and conduct orientation for newly hired mechanics.
- Responsible for updating sections of the reflection board, accountability board, SAR documents and files.
- Understands reflection board metrics and leads reflection board meetings while driving actions from those meetings.
Competencies/Skills
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the plant organization as well as supplier representatives.
- Working knowledge of computer systems including spreadsheets, databases, and CMMS.
- Advanced knowledge of mine equipment in the areas of diesel, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic electrical preferred.
- Self-starter, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize assigned tasks effectively.
- Leadership capabilities to direct, communicate and plan daily maintenance activities for the mining operations.
Key Qualifications
- Proven maintenance experience at a supervisory level.
- Working knowledge of the underground mining operation preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to lead and develop the maintenance team in relations to accountability and employee relations.
- Proven experience with underground mobile equipment maintenance required.
- Three (3) or more years in a maintenance management position required.
Hourly Pay Range: $38-$43
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
