Mobile Equipment Mechanic

Primary Function:
This is an advanced level position in the Mechanic Reliability Department to maintain the plants fleet of mobile equipment, perform routine preventative mobile equipment maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting.
Basic Requirements:
- Meets Essential Physical Requirements of the position.
- Understand and adhere to all department and general plant safety rules.
- Understand and adhere to USG RPM Program.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Possess basic required hand tools.
- Be available for overtime and emergency call-in as needed.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, learning capacity and self-motivation.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial equipment and maintenance.
- Mobile Equipment, Diesel Engines, Mechanical Repair, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Bearings, Lifting/Rigging, Welding, Pipe Fitting, etc.
- Basic papermaking process knowledge and how areas of responsibility affect production.
- Must satisfy requirements of Mechanic 3 position.
- No significant performance/ attendance infractions within the last 36 months.
- Must be able to perform all tasks as required in the subsequent positions.
Job Procedures and Requirements:
- Must have extensive experience and knowledge in disassembly and rebuild/repair of mobile equipment (Hyster/Yale/Toyota/Cushman/Bobcat/Linde/Caterpillar) in all areas of the plant.
- Must be capable of organizing manpower, equipment/tools and parts to complete assigned projects in the most economical and efficient means possible.
- Must exhibit the technical competency to rapidly diagnose and repair mobile equipment malfunctions (adapting to and practicing new innovations).
- Must be knowledgeable in the following areas to carry out administrative responsibilities:
- Spare parts inventory and procurement procedures.
- Plant practices, operator rate programs, safety contacts, time-keeping.
- Accident investigations and reporting.
- RPM Procedures.
- Capable of providing individual and group instruction to develop and train plant personnel on mobile equipment.
- Must be proficient in maintaining computerized maintenance database including but not limited to updating of equipment records information, verification of inventory items, generation of work order requests, and work order completion and adjustment reporting procedures per USG RPM Model Program.
- Must assist Reliability Engineer with the development of Preventative Maintenance Jobs for all mobile equipment.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
