CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER
Job Description:
- This Master Black Belt will be dedicated to the LSS manufacturing and other USG initiative working with the plants and HQ as needed.
- Effectively leads Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement projects across all functional areas. The Master Black Belt is an “in house” expert for disseminating knowledge, project identification, and training/coaching for Black Belts, Green Belts and the Continuous Improvement leaders. Master Black Belts take a leadership role in the larger, more complex Lean Six Sigma program initiatives.
- Master Black Belts serve as subject matter experts in the methodology and discipline of Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement Management System (Lean Management), Reflection, Gemba and responsible to train, coach, and mentor other Black Belts, Green Belts and CI leaders. This includes identifying and recruiting potential CI Belts for all ranks, participating in gate reviews, CI assessments, consulting on project implementations, and managing changes within the larger LSS organization. Incumbent performs these services as needed across all functional areas to solve problems and replicate successful solutions.
- Incumbent must be goal-directed, persistent and driven to achieve positive results. Is a positive influence on others and deals well with setbacks. Identifies integration issues, removes barriers and tracks project status in order to obtain desired results.
- Incumbent must stretch and grow personally in this role as they respond to new situations. Sets priorities well and able to distinguish between essential and non-essential tasks to maintain high levels of project cycle times.
- Must be able to coach plant CI leaders and plant leadership on Continuous Improvement Management systems and problem solving
- By guiding people to view their work—to see—as lean thinkers and take ownership of improvement—to ask why—as lean practitioners, the coach inspires them to do their best work and still strive to do better. Simultaneously, the coach shares lean tools and techniques that their client can use to improve their work process
- Leverage internal Calzonetti coaching methods and guidance using SMART criteria
- Understand DISC styles and team leaders need to understand personalities to create a high performing team
- Coach and encourage others to use team accelerator to accomplish their goals
- Comfortable coaching and influencing plant leaders
- Fluent in basic problem solving, root cause and other methodologies
- Communicate using trip reports and other data to effectively show your work
The position is located in the field and can work from home or plant location.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
Certification Requirements
Must successfully complete the USG Lean Six Sigma Certification process for Black Belts and Master Black Belt.
Years of Experience
Minimum of two years experience as a manager in manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution or ten years in some other supervisory capacity. Must have been certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to persuade groups or individuals to take a certain course of action. Excellent time management and project management skills to keep focused on the goals of the project.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
