Maintenance Mechanic

Primary Function:
Perform highly diversified duties to repair and maintain production machines and plant facility equipment. (e.g. building maintenance, machinery repairs, welding, pipefitting, mobile mechanics, etc.).
Basic Requirements:
- Meets Essential Physical Requirements of the Position. Must regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs. Regularly climb stairs/ladders/scaffolding and work at heights. Walk/stand/work on feet for extended periods of time. Work in hot/humid environments.
- Understand and adhere to all department and general plant safety rules.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Possess basic required hand tools.
- Be available for overtime and emergency call-in as needed.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude, learning capacity and self-motivation.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Proficient knowledge of industrial equipment and maintenance.
- Mechanical Repair, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Bearings, Lifting/Rigging, Welding, Pipe Fitting, etc.
Job Procedures and Requirements:
- Perform routine mechanical repairs with limited to no supervision.
- Must know maintenance and equipment terminology (basic bearing terminology, pump terminology, roll terminology, motor terminology, plant locations).
- Possess knowledge and ability to analyze, troubleshoot and complete repair of routine/non-routine equipment with limited supervision, assistance, and leadership (including bearings, refiner plates, pulper work, pump changes, roll change).
- Must have basic welding repair and fabrication knowledge (welder assembly, material usage, assisted in fabrication projects).
- Possess basic knowledge of some maintenance specialties (e.g. laser alignment, vibration analysis, infrared thermography, carpentry, pipefitting, machining, etc.) and the ability to employ it where applicable.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of industrial rigging techniques and devices including crane operation.
- Proficient and able to effectively operate all machine shop and mobile equipment (grinders, drill press, band saw, bobcat, hose machine, fork trucks, aerial lifts).
- Must be familiar with the basics of maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems (basic knowledge of hose application, assisted on repairs of hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
- Ability to use equipment manuals and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
- Must have a basic understanding of the USG RPM model program (storeroom operation/parts check out, work orders).
- Must have an understanding of work order systems (EAM) and Safety databases (completed VWIs, SOCs, LOTOs, confined space entries, locate parts in EAM, locate work orders, enter craftsman feedback, enter a work request).
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
