POSITION SUMMARY
Promotes shared accountability between the business and IT to develop the right business-driven IT strategies for USG. Works with the business and IT directors on short and long-term business strategies, ensuring that IT activities and business strategies are closely aligned. Acts as liaison between senior business management and IT directors/managers. Creates partnerships within IT and communicates business needs so that they are well understood throughout IT. Creates and maintains strategic partnerships with the business to ensure that IT strategies are well understood by the business. Demonstrates advanced understanding of business processes, environments, and problems/solutions as they relate to the organization’s current and future strategic environment. Accountable for internal customer satisfaction of IT. Leads the business partnership and demand management competencies for USG IT Utilize extended BP team and owns the competency management in this space including:
- Leveraging staff resources and for extended business partnership function effectively
- Managing the process for communicating IT priorities across USG business stakeholders
- Accountable for the overall selection and prioritization of IT Demand to maximize business value of investments in technology
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
- Ensures that IT initiatives, programs and projects are aligned with business requirements and strategies and serves as a key participant in the IT governance process
- Gives input into organizational issues that impact the success of the department and company
- Communicates guidance within IT to ensure the business needs are well understood
- Provides guidance to the business groups to ensure that information technology implications are understood and considered in the planning process
- Demonstrates ability to communicate at the Executive level the IT priorities and rationale.
Business Focus
- Works closely with senior business and IT leadership to recommend, create, refine and implement the short and long term business strategies; determines action plans and recommends investment levels needed to meet and support this strategy while remaining cost focused
- Builds strategic and maintains relationships with key business leaders
- Articulates the role of technology in terms easily understood by business constituents
- Seeks to understand and manage internal customers' expectations
- Understands and explains the relationship between business processes and technology
- Participates with business unit leadership in the strategic planning process
- Maintains external links to other companies in the industry to gain competitive assessments and share information, where appropriate
- Ensures that customer and business unit expectations of IT and agreed to business requirements are met or exceeded
- Facilitates the support and development of IT solutions that meet the overall business objectives of the enterprise
- Works with business area to develop funding requests
Managing Resources
- Develops and organizes projects which involve initiating, planning and executing work of unusual scope, difficulty and complexity, requiring specialized business knowledge
- Provides Guidance to business partners and others supporting the business partnership function
- Provides employees guidance and direction to support their success and addresses any performance or disciplinary issues as needed by working with Human Resources and IT Leadership as needed

- Maintains up-to-date knowledge in business area(s) of specialization and keeps aware of business and industry developments and progress worldwide
- Participates in industry related societies, builds relationships within the industry, participates in benchmarking, and stays current on trends

- Closely collaborates with IT leadership and others as necessary, to ensure proper business/IT alignment
- Closely collaborates with the PMO, and other stakeholders in the IT governance process to ensure programs and projects are properly aligned and prioritized to meet USG’s business needs
- Maintains an ongoing dialogue as a facilitator with the business groups regarding the use of information technology within their organization
- Collaborates effectively within the IT organization to ensure the effective delivery of IT services to the enterprise
- Administration/Organization: Understands and explains the financial implications of decisions and requests to IT
- Maintains knowledge of business processes and how appropriate technologies can support or improve those processes
- Performs at a level clearly above that of the related IT Business Partner position by demonstrating greater proficiency, leadership and strategic thinking
- Maintains knowledge of emerging business opportunities and challenges and how appropriate technologies can provide solutions
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned

- Supervisory role may include assigning work and reviewing work of others, may conduct performance reviews

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business or related technology field with an emphasis on applying technology to provide business solutions
Years of Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience focused on developing, implementing, and supporting technical business solutions
- A minimum of 3 years managing people and projects
- A minimum of 4 years experience in business analysis, providing business solutions, and industry business knowledge
Required Skills

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
