Job Description:
- Effectively lead the Operating Departments at the Ceilings Plus plant including the production scheduling department, all functions of production, and shipping and receiving. Oversee 1 Manager, 3 General Foreman, 1 Hourly Supervisor and approximately 90 hourly employees.
- Responsible for training, motivating and maintaining a high level of safety for all department employees to ensure an efficient operation, consistent with overall company safety objectives.
- Responsible for implementing a strategy to ensure the attainment of key performance metrics, including safety, cost, plant quality ratings, and on-time customer delivery.
- Recognizes employees’ strengths and development needs, provides coaching and motivates employees on an individual basis and as a team. The ability to generate a training and development plan which will provide a flexible and efficient workforce to meet increased demand. Development of a realistic succession plan is essential.
- Responsible for insuring departments are following all USG policies, best practices, and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to develop successful relationships with manufacturing, reliability, engineering, project management, product management, sales, and customers to determine product specifications and maximize product reliability and acceptance. Highly developed technical skills with an ability to propel the plant forward by recognizing and implementing advancements in automation and technology.
- Supports and implements LEAN strategies at the plant. Coaches and engages all employees using LEAN tools and processes to encourage a continuous improvement atmosphere.
- Can assist the Plant Manager with special tasks or projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred)
- Must have demonstrated history of strong leadership skills is a must.
- Demonstrate organizational skills with strong communication and public speaking skills. Supports all change initiatives with enthusiasm and involves others in the change process.
- Knowledge of safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety and housekeeping. A proponent of innovative change in safety with a propensity for motivating employees to new levels of safety awareness and engagement.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to make quick, accurate decisions. Strategic thinker with a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished.
- A desire to actively manage and develop others; provide guidance and recognition in conjunction with USG’s philosophy of talent management and retention. Capacity to relate well to employees at all levels and effectively build rapport.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
